You can only make vitamin D in the UK between the months of April and September, between the hours of 11am and 4pm.

You’d need to spend at least 20 minutes outdoors in strong sunshine, with at least your face and arms are uncovered for this period and have no SPF on. Remember – SPF has been designed to block UVA & B and UVB is what gives us Vitamin D.

If you can’t achieve this daily, during these warmer months, then you must supplement with vitamin D during this period too.

If you are non-Caucasian, your higher melanin levels protects you from the sun and this makes it much harder for you to make Vitamin D from the sun.

Over the age of 65? Your skin also loses its ability to make adequate vitamin D from sunlight.

If you are overweight, vitamin D gets stored in fatty tissue making it less available to be used by the rest of the body.

For these reasons, all three of these groups should supplement all year round, regardless of sun exposure.

60% of the general population are deficient in Vitamin D all the time and 87% are deficient by March. Overweight, non-causasian or elderly people are 100% deficient all the time without supplementation.

It must be converted by your body into the active Methylcobalamin and Adenosylcobalamin forms, and some people’s bodies struggle with this conversion. Both contain 150mg of highly absorbable magnesium citrate.

Magnesium Plus also contains B6 in the biologically active form of P5P. Without adequate B6, magnesium cannot enter the cell (muscle, nerve, brain cells).
